Small Business Week
The Office of Small Business hosts and co-sponsors events and activities every year to promote and retain small businesses in San Francisco. Here are a few of our annual programs.
Small Business Week 2019 - Celebrate Small Business: May 6-11, 2019
May is a busy month for the Office of Small Business as we are all hands on deck gearing up for San Francisco Small Business Week. From May 6th to 11th, the city puts small businesses at center stage through a series of educational and networking events designed to inspire, educate and connect the members of our small business community. At the Office of Small Business, we celebrate SF small businesses every day. However, during San Francisco Small Business Week we join forces with over a dozen agencies, organizations and companies to highlight and honor the more than 85,000 small businesses and entrepreneurs that call San Francisco home.
The 15th Annual San Francisco Small Business Week 2019 kicked off with "InspireSF" featuring inspirational panel discussion with owners of leading SF businesses, ASMBLY HALL, Smitten Ice Cream, Black Rabbit Hospitality, and The American Grilled Cheese. The reception included a tasy menu of local delights and a chance to mingle with other local businesses and business leaders. Later in the week, the Board of Supervisors recognized an exemplary small business in each of their district while the Mayor recognized her small business honorees at the Small Business Award Ceremony. In addition, over 30 free business workshops were offered throughout the week to business owners and entrepreneurs at the SBA Entrepreneur Center. Topics included marketing, business law, funding options, government contracting, social media and more.

As we look forward to Small Business Week next year, the Office of Small Business would like to remind everyone to continue to support our local small businesses throughout the year!
Small Businesses Honored by Mayor and Board of Supervisors During Small Business Week
Passed by Ordinance 265-09 in 2009, the City established a program whereby the Small Business Commission provides an opportunity each year for the Mayor and each member of the Board of Supervisors to provide recognition to local small businesses that contribute to the vitality of San Francisco. The annual recognition is hosted by the Office of Small Business and Small Business Commission during Small Business Week.
